The camera was first invented in 1826, and since that time its use has evolved from capturing real images to capturing new perspectives on reality. Figures such as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and David Hockney are associated with some of the world’s most famous 20th Century photography. This art form adapts and adjusts with the advent of new technologies, sometimes even going backwards to revisit earlier methods. Photographic subject matter and perspectives have also adjusted to changing views of the world and trends in the visual arts.
